Te Mania ‘Reserve’ Nelson Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 28-Jun-2016
Even straw-yellow colour with light lemon-gold hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and solid with packed aromas of ripe citrus fruits and yellow stonefruits entwined with soft and dense mealy and nutty layers, and vanilla and toasty oak elements. Medium-full bodied, the flavours are fulsomw, showing ripe citrus fruits, savoury yellow stonefruits, and mealy, nutty, toasty oak. The mouthfeel is broad and filling, and the fruit sweetness balanced by some dry phenolic textures and structure. The acidity is integrated, enhancing the breadth, and some alcoholic power carries the wine to a full, citrussy and nutty finish. This is a fulsome, broad and up-front Chardonnay with ripe citrussy and mealy fruit with plenty of toasty oak. Match with roasted pork over the next 4+ years. Clone 95 and 15 fruit from the ‘Helm’ vineyard in Ruby Bay, hand-picked and WBP, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented in barriques and puncheons to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months with batonnage and 40% MLF. Vegan wine. 18.0/20 Jun 2016 RRP $29.99
