Te Mania ‘Reserve’ Nelson Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 22-Oct-2012
Mendoza clone fruit from the ‘Home Block' from 16 y.o. vines, fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in French and American oak barriques, 33% new. Brilliant, even, straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, and a little pale green on edge. The bouquet is full and powerful with deep aromas of citrus fruits, mealy, nutty oak and barrel-ferment toasty notes. Full-bodied with good weight and presence, rich, ripe citrussy fruit and toasty, spicy oak flavours are harmoniously integrated forming a soft and dense core and rounded mouthfeel. The flavours are underlined by bright and balanced acidity and barrel-fermentation creaminess is a feature. The fruit and oak flow smoothly to a fulsome, soft finish with moderate length. This is a full-bodied, weighty and softly mouthfilling Chardonnay with rich citrus and oak flavours. Match with roasted fish, poultry and pork over the next 4-5+ years. Vegan wine. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5-/20 Oct 2012 RRP $27.99
