Te Mania Nelson Syrah 2012

Syrah from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 03-Jun-2014
Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour with youthful black-purple hues. The nose is intensely packed and softly concentrated with aromas of white and black pepper, spices and red liquorice, lifted by violet floral notes. This is elegant and tightly bound, with a core to unfold. Light-medium bodied, the palate is slender and tightly concentrated with flavours of white and black peppery fruit, along with spice elements. The fruit is underlined by fine-grained tannin extraction and fresh, lively, racy acidity. This has tension and drive, and an elegance of proportion that is carried to a long, slim-lined finish. This is an elegantly concentrated Syrah with spicy and peppery fruit, bright acidity and a fine tannin line. Match with poultry, pork, and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Marsland’ vineyard, Redwood Valley, fermented to 12.3% alc., the wine spending 14 days on skins and aged 12 months in 15% new French and American oak. Vegan wine and certified BioGro organic. 17.0/20 Jun 2014 RRP $24.00
