Te Mania Nelson Syrah 2011

Syrah from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 22-Oct-2012
Full, deep, purple-hued dark ruby colour, youthful in appearance. Soft, intense blackberry and boysenberry fruit aromas intermingle with white and black pepper and dark herb notes. The nose is deep and concentrated and up-front. Medium-bodied, sweet and lush dark berry fruit, pepper, dark herbs and violetty florals are packed with depth on the palate. Soft tannins support the fruit, and along with restrained acidity provide a smooth mouthfeel and gentle textural flow to a moderately sustained finish featuring black berry fruits, dark plums with bitter chocolate and liquorice nuances. This is an up-front and straightforward, sufficiently ripened Syrah with black fruit and peppery flavours and a soft, smoothly textured palate. Match with barbecued and roasted, herb-infused red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit from a single vineyard on Moutere clay, destemmed and fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in oak. Vegetarian wine. Certified BioGro Conversion organic. 17.5-/20 Oct 2012 RRP $21.99
