Te Mania Nelson Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 10-Jan-2014
Hand-picked fruit, clones 115, 5, 667 and 777 from the ‘Marsland’ hillside vineyard, fermented partially wild to 12.8% alc., the wine spending 20-25 days on skins and 11 months in 10% new French oak barrels. Vegan wine, certified BioGro organic. Moderately deep ruby-red colour with garnet hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is softly full with gently entwined aromas of savoury soft redcurrants and strawberries, secondary earthiness and mushroomy notes, and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, softly concentrated flavours of red berry fruits show with a savoury succulence and sweetness. There are secondary earth and undergrowth notes, adding a developmental interest. The palate is harmonious in mouthfeel with supple tannins and bright, lively underlying acidity adding to the juiciness, and carrying the flavours to a light, lingering red-fruited finish. This is a soft, harmonious and savoury Pinot Noir with some secondary interest and the freshness to see it keep 3-4 years. Match with mushroomy risotto and pasta dishes. 16.5/20 Jan 2014 RRP $23.00
