Te Mania Nelson Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 17-Oct-2014
Brilliant light straw-yellow colour with hints of gold, pale edged. This has a fresh, clean, tight nose of white stonefruits lifted by floral notes and intermixed with steely, flinty minerals. Some honeysuckle richness unfolds with aeration. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, this has a tightly bound core of aromatic stonefruits with subtle layers of flint, minerals and honesuckle that provide interest and detail. Bright and crisp acidity enlivens the mouthfeel and the wine follows a fine textural thread and line. A little alcoholic power adds positive drive and presence, leading to a moderately long, stonefruit and mineral nuanced finish. This is a tight and fresh dry Pinot Gris with light stonefruit and flinty flavours and good line. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. 65% ‘Ranzau’ and 35% ‘Greenpoint’ vineyard fruit fermented in tank to 14.1% alc. and 8.0 g/L RS. Vegan wine. Approx. 750 cases made. 17.0/20 Oct 2014 RRP $21.90
