Te Mania Nelson Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 01-Dec-2011
Fruit from two hillside sites, one on the Bronte Peninsula, the other, the organic ‘Marsland' vineyard, a portion WBP, 10% wild yeast fermented in barrel to 14.3% alc. and 4.4 g/L rs, on lees for 5 months. Bright, pale straw-yellow, clear on rim, the nose has finely presented, intense aromas of spicy pears with perfumed florals and hints of minerals. Off-dry to taste, this has attractively pure flavours of white stonefruits and florals, along with balanced, refreshing acidity which provides excellent focus and poise. Subtle richness and a smooth texture enhances the depth of fruit which leads to a honied finish with good length. A bright and fresh wine, with a gentle richness to match Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Suitable for vegans. 18.0-/20 Dec 2011 RRP $21.99
