Dijon clone fruit from 9 y.o. vines, fully destemmed and fermented to 13.5% alc, the wine aged 11 months in seasoned oak. Moderately deep ruby-red colour with some youthful purple hues. This has a voluminous bouquet, the dark red berry fruit expression a little restrained. Elements of dried herb, earth and seasoned wood also show on the nose. Medium full-bodied, this has a good core of dark red berry fruits with flavours of dried herb and cut hay along with savoury earth and older wood notes. The fruit sweetness is match by good acidity and moderate tannin extraction, resulting in some lusciousness and a soft textured mouthfeel, which carries through to the finish. Drink over the next 4-5 years with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. 130 dozen made. 16.5-/20 Jun 2011 RRP $TBA
