Chardonnay from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki

Bright, pale yellow with depth and a light green hue. The nose has power, full, penetrating stonefruit, butterscotch, spice and Crème caramel. Medium-full bodied, aromas of peach, nectarine enriched by barrel spice, Crème caramel, roasted almonds and butterscotch linger. Ripe, integrated acidity binding the rich notes and spice with stonefruit and providing freshness; alcohol power extended and emphasised the flavours. This Chardonnay shows a stonefruit core, lively acidity with spice and caramel, creamy barrel enrichments. Match this with bourbon glazed chicken and pork chop over the next 5-7 years. Fruit from Northburn and Bannockburn, 100% Mendoza clone, handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented in barrel to 14% alc, aged 9 months and extended lees stirring. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) July 2022 RRP $38
