Te Kairanga Runholder Chardonnay 2021, Martinborough

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 01-May-2023
Bright, eve, pale yellow-gold. This has a forward, attractive bouquet of stonefruit, apple, blossom, custard and almond. Medium-full bodied, aromas of apple and stonefruit are clean and refreshing, extended by citrus zest and subtle notes of custard and almond. The wine is harmonious with cleanse aromas, and subtle details of nut and custard added complexity. Acidity is balanced and delicate, leaving an appetizing finish. This Chardonnay shows delicate ripe fruit of stonefruit, citrus and apple enriched by subtle oak and creamy details. Match with snapper and braised pork over the next 3-4 years. Clones Mendoza (65%), 6 and 95, handpicked, whole bunch pressed to French oak puncheons for indigenous yeast fermentation and MLF, lees stirred, 10 months in French oak, 10% new, 13% alc. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Apr 2023 RRP $35
