Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 23-Jun-2014
Bright, light straw colour with light green hues. The nose is softly full with elegantly presented aromas of gooseberries and pungent passionfruit, opening in volume with aeration. Dry to taste with a medium-full body, the mouthfeel is racy with crisp and aromatic gooseberry and passionfruit flavours, with lifted notes. The palate is elegant in presentation, with a subtle richness of texture and an energetic and lingering finish. Martinborough fruit fermented in stainless-steel with to 13.5% alc., with 10% in French oak and aged 4 months in barrel. 17.5/20 Jun 2014 RRP $22.99 Martinborough fruit fermented in stainless-steel with to 13.5% alc., with 10% in French oak and aged 4 months in barrel. Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. This has a moderately full bouquet of ripe gooseberries, herbs and white stonefruits, intermixed with savoury secondary and stalky elements and vegetal notes from barrel work. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, restrained, steely gooseberry fruit flavours combine with savoury herb and vegetal nuances. The mouthfeel is soft with fine, dry textures, balanced by good acid freshness in the background. The fruit flavours recede and lead to a light, crisp finish with citrussy notes. This is a light-fruited Sauvignon Blanc with savoury gooseberry flavours and a light-textured palate. Serve with antipasto, salads, vegetables and Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. 17.0+/20 Apr 2014 RRP $25.00
