Te Awanga Estate The One Off Stuff & Nonsense Organic Pinot Noir 2018, Hawke’s Bay

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 18-Aug-2020
Deep, clear, ruby-red with a dark purple hue, youthful, even throughout. The nose is elegantly fragrant, aromas of black cherries, blackberries, plums, along with sweet liquorice, oregano melded with subtle spice and savoury element. Medium-bodied, flavours of black cherries, plums, blackberries, entwined with herbs, sweet spices of vanilla, cinnamon, liquorice and subtle gamey notes underlay. The fruit is bright with deep flavour and density; plum nuance is getting more prominent as it aerated, complimenting the underlying savoury, gamey detail. Fine-grained tannin extraction is dusty fine, leaves a satisfying silky mouthfeel; flows along with lively acidity with good energy. This is an appealing Pinot Noir with flavours of black fruit, herbs and sweet spices on a dusty fine-grained tannin structure line. Match with lamb stir-fried and pork roast over the next 3-5 years. Organically grown fruit from Mangatahi River, fermented to 13% alc, aged in new and used French oak barrels. 18.5/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $35.99
