Te Awanga Estate Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 23-Feb-2017
Bright, even, light straw-yellow colour, paler on edge. This has a fresh, taut nose with finely concentrated aromas of white stonefruits and minerals, along with white floral notes entwined with subtle, nutty lees elements. Honeysuckle suggestions emerge with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is gentle, showing subtle flavours of white stonefruits, white florals, minerals and nutty nuances. This has good mouthfeel and presence, and the wine flows along a very fine-textured line with poised background acidity. The wine carries to a bright, lingering finish with subtle floral and stonefruit flavours. This is a dry Pinot Gris with restrained stonefruit and floral fruit on a fresh palate with good presence. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. Pinot Gris fruit from Ohiti Road, cool-fermented in tank to 12.5% alc. and 5.96 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 17.5/20 Feb 2017 RRP $19.99
