Te Awanga Estate Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 18-Dec-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is fresh and elegantly presented with light and subtly detailed aromas of white stonefruits and pears, with a refreshing saline and minerally aspect, unfolding florals and hints of honeysuckle. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tightly bound flavours of citrus and white stonefruits form a tight, firm core and line. The acidity is crisp and lends a dryness to the mouthfeel. This is taut and near austere, with a fine phenolic thread carrying the palate, unfolding saline and mineral elements. Crisp acidity emerges, leading the wine to a dry, finely textured finish. This is a crisp, fine textured, dry Pinot Gris with white stonefruit and saline notes. Serve with seafood and Mediterranean fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the company’s inland vineyard, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and <3 g/L RS. 17.5-/20 Dec 2014 RRP $24.99
