Te Awanga Estate Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 19-Mar-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on rim. This has a tight, firm and intensely concentrated nose of white stonefruits and apricot kernels infused with flinty reduction complexities, unfolding nuances of exotic florals and spices. Dry to taste and medium bodied, complex flavours of stonefruit kernels and flinty reduction form a firm and well-packed core. The palate is textured and substantial in extract, providing excellent body and mouthfeel. The firmness and phenolic grip is moderated by soft acidity, but the wine has good linearity and drive leading to a sustained finish with sweet stonefruit nuances. This is a complex flinty flavoured and textural dry Pinot Gris in the Alsace style. Serve with poultry, pork and veal over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the company’s inland vineyard, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.7% alc. and <2 g/L RS. 18.0/20 Mar 2014 RRP $25.99
