Te Awanga Estate Hawke’s Bay Merlot Rosé 2014

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Oct-2014
Merlot fruit from Te Awanga, from vines 10-17 y.o., given 8 hours skin contact and cool-fermented to 12.85% alc. and dryness, the wine aged several months on lees. Full, moderately dark purple-pink colour, youthful in appearance. This has a firmly packed and intense nose of redcurrant fruit aromas with raspberries and cream and nuances of herbs and funky, savoury sulphide elements adding interest. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, soft, well-concentrated and rich flavours of raspberries and cream flow smoothly on the palate, along with some savoury detail. Soft textures enhance the fruit sweetness and the wine is rounded in mouthfeel. Acidity emerges on the back palate and carries the wine to a slippery, plush finish with aromatic confectionary nuances. This is a soft, plush raspberry and cream fruited dry rosé with some funky, savoury nuances. Serve with antipasto and charcuterie over the next 2 years. 17.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $24.99
