Te Awanga Estate Hawke’s Bay Merlot Rosé 2013

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Nov-2013
Moderately deep, garnet-hued pink colour with some purple on rim. The nose is full with solid and deep aromas of strawberries, red berry fruit and watermelon, along with a fresh, steely, minerally edge. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, this has good weight, presence and mouthfeel. The fruit flavours are somewhat restrained and tightly bound, showing strawberries and raspberries and a hint of confectionary. The palate has fresh, lively acidity to balance the solidness and the rounded textures contribute to a smooth, integrated flow of flavours. A little phenolic thread leads the wine to a dry and harmonious finish. This is a fulsome and well-weighted, dry rosé with subtle red fruit flavours. Serve with Mediterranean cuisine over the next 2 years. Merlot fruit from the estate vineyard at Te Awanga, given a brief period of skin contact and cool-fermented to 14.2% alc. and dryness. 17.0+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $29.99
