Te Awanga Estate Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 18-Dec-2014
Bright, even straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of light gold, pale edged. This has a tightly concentrated, focussed nose with a harmonious amalgam of exotic white florals, rose-petal perfumes, musk and ginger, revealing fresh mineral elements in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion with a tight core of exotic florals, ginger and musk. The fruit has some richness and sweetness, enlivened by fine, lacy acidity. A little alcohol power emerges and along with the acidity provides drive and linearity. The wine is carried to a long finish with delicate spice, musk and ginger flavours. This is a tightly concentrated, dry Gewurztraminer with floral and ginger flavours, and good acid and alcohol drive. Serve with poultry and pork, and with Asian cuisine over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the company’s inland vineyard cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.3% alc. and <2 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Dec 2014 RRP $24.99
