Te Awanga Estate Hawke’ Bay Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-Jul-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with light golden-green hues, pale on the rim. The nose is softly full, gentle and easy with rounded aromas of yellow stonefruits entwined with white florals and an amalgam of honeysuckle, nut and herbs along with mineral detail. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit is soft and rounded, but grows in mouthfeel, richness and presence, the gentle yellow stonefruits, subtle floral, honey and nutty elements enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The rich and mouthfilling flavours are supported light phenolic textures lending structure, and the acidity balanced in the background. This leads to a soft, dry, grainy finish of yellow stonefruits. This is a soft, rich yellow stonefruited Pinot Gris with plenty of mouthfeel and presence. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Maraekakaho vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel with 10% in seasoned oak to 13.0% alc., and 2.5 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Jul 2016 RRP $24.99
