Very dark, deep, full, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. Soft, full and evenly presented on bouquet, this has lifted, aromatic raspberry and cherry aromas with exotic floral and jam notes intermingling with vibrancy. Medium-bodied, lush raspberry and red cherry flavours are lifted by elements of violets and jasmine, and primary, jammy, whole-berry like notes. Cracked black pepper shows with air time. The palate is underpinned by racy, mouthwatering acidity and nervosity. The tannin extract is modest, resulting in very supple textures enhancing the juiciness of the wine. 93% Syrah, Chave, 887 and 470 clones with 7% Viognier, given a cold soak and wild yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in seasoned 300 L French hogsheads. Made in a Pinot Noir style, or seriously fruity Beaujolais cru, this is an anytime red that will be match for charcuterie, pizza, pasta and duck over the next 3-4 years. 17.5/20 Nov 2011 RRP $24.00 Made with 5% Viognier, bright and purple, with a lifted, juicy, lollyish, jammy nose and palate of spices and dark red floral fruits, along with some herb notes.
