Te Awa ‘Left Field’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Jun-2014
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a tight and concentrated nose of fresh, primary fruits, showing ripe blackberries, raspberries and red liquorice with an intriguing fennel herb note, unveiling red florals and oak resin nuances with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is firmly concentrated with a deep core of raspberry and blackberry fruit, herbs and liquorice. Grainy tannin structure supports the fruit with brisk acidity adding to the firmness and providing energy and drive. The flavours are carried to a long, lingering finish with spice and raspberry notes. This is a concentrated, firm and brisk Pinot Noir with flavours of raspberries, liquorice and herbs. Serve with barbecued, herb-marinated red meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. A mixed clone selection from the ‘Keltern’ vineyard given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented with a small portion of whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in oak. 17.5/20 Jun 2014 RRP $20.00
