Te Awa Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon 2010

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Sep-2011
A blend of 61% Sauvignon Blanc from the ‘Zone 3' estate block with 39% Semillon purchased fruit, with partial barrel-ferment with wild yeasts to 12.5% alc. Bright lemony, straw-yellow colour with pale green hues on edge, this has an elegant and very tight nose of herbs, stonefruits and minerals with a waxiness. Dry to taste, this is still locked up and tight. There are restrained flavours of lime fruit, gentle mineral notes and a little waxiness.. The palate is gently textured and subtle, quite smooth in mouthfeel, the soft acidity providing the potential for the wine to develop honey and toasty flavours over the next 4-5+ years.  Sep 2011 RRP $26.95 A 60/40 blend mainly barrel-fermented. Quite restrained in expression, but carrying lovely weight, rich textures, soft acidity and a little oily-waxiness. This will age well, over the next 3-4+ years.  Jun 2011
