Tankersley Estate Pinot Noir 2016, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 30-Nov-2022
Deep ruby-red with a garnet undertone, lighter on the rim. This has a calm, broody expression, with aromas of dried herbs, lifted floral, dark cherry, black raspberry, spice and a hint of game. Medium-full bodied, aromas of cherry and black raspberry entwined with black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon, dried floral and game. Tightly bounded tannins left a light grip and fine structure; broody dark herb and spice carried by lacy acidity extended a fragranced, sustained finish. This enticing Pinot Noir possesses a cherry and black raspberry core, ample spice and floral fragrances and a tightly-weaved tannin mouthfeel. Match with hare and smoked duck over the next 5+ years. Fruit from Pisa, fermented with 35% whole bunches, aged 18 months in French oak. 14% alc. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $24.99
