Tankersley Estate Pinot Noir 2014, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 30-Nov-2022
Deep, ruby-red with a garnet hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is gently full, with lifted aromas of dried floral, black tea fragrance melded with dried cranberry, cherry, forest floor, liquorice and medicinal herbs. Medium-bodied, aromas of dried cranberry and cherry interweaved dried hibiscus, unveiling an amalgam of spice, liquorice, cinnamon bark, star anise, shiitake and forest floor. Supple, powdery tannins resemble filigree work. The wine is complex, with beautifully developed tertiary aromas; excellent acidity provides freshness and vitality, driving a moderately long and graceful finish. This matured Pinot Noir shows graceful development, complexity and strength with elegant fruit, floral, spice and savoury complexities. Match with roasted pigeon and duck over the next 3 years. Fruit from Pisa, fermented with 30% whole bunches, aged 1 year in French oak. 14% alc. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $24.99
