Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 11-Jul-2023
Medium ruby-black with a brown hue, lighter on the rim. This has a herbaceous bouquet, penetrating aromas of cherry, strawberry stew, dried herb, cinnamon, nutmeg and earthy matters. Medium-full bodied, aromas of cherry and stewed strawberry melded with dried thyme, oregano, cinnamon, nutmeg, dark cocoa and shiitake. The wine is broody and rich, unveiling dark cocoa and sweet spice development. An integrated mouthfeel with lively acidity and mellowed silky tannins flows harmoniously and lingers with sweet spice and earthy development. Match with roasted lamb shoulder and mushroom stew over the next 3-5 years. Handpicked, fermented to 14% alc, aged in French oak, unfined, unfiltered. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) July 2023 RRP $79.99
