Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er ‘Clos St Jacques’ 2010

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 18-Feb-2014
Deepish ruby-red colour with lighter purple hues on rim. The nose is very elegant in presentation with rich aromas of ripe black cherry and berry fruit with a complexing layer of oak char and reduction elements unfolding hints of savoury game and meat, indicating some brettanomyces. On palate this has lovely richness and sweetness of fruit, the flavours of cherries and black plums quite succulent and enlivened by bright acid mouthfeel. Fire, firm tannins provide linearity and drive. The flavours of savoury game and charry toasty oak are harmonious and lead to a long, sweet finish. This is a luscious, fine lined wine with distinctive oak char and some game-like funky complexities. 7-10 years. 18.5-/20 FEB 2014 RRP $N/A
