Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er ‘Clos St Jacques’ 2009

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 18-Feb-2014
Full, very dark, deep and dense, black-hearted red. The bouquet is full, solid and dense with chunky aromas of savoury game and ripe red fruits, along with earth and sulphide elements, with a strong influence of brettanomyces. Fulsome, solid and densely structured on palate, flavours of savoury red and brown fruits are melded with earth and gamey brettanomyces. The palate is beginning to dry in texture, with the acidity is low in expression, adding to the stolid nature on palate. The tannins are a feature and the structure prevails. Toasty oak nuances emerge in the glass and carry through to the finish. This is a full-bodied, funky and gamey Clos St Jacques with tannin structure prominent. Drink over the next 5-6+ years. 17.5+/20 Feb 2014 RRP $N/A
