Swift Malbec 2020, Hawke’s Bay

Malbec from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 15-Sep-2021
Deep, dark purple with a ruby core, lighter on the rim. The nose is youthful and inviting, packed with succulent fruit of ripe blackberries, black Doris plums, entwined with violets, an amalgam of spices and a hint of meaty note. Full-bodied, concentrated aromas of blackberries and Doris plums melded with violet fragrance and spices. The palate is dry, mouth-filling with powdery, natural ripe tannins; integrated acidity carries spiced black tea essence to a lengthy finish. This is a youthful Malbec with black fruit, spices on a fine natural tannin palate with a dry finish. Match with grilled meat and barbeque ribs over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Bridge Pa Triangle, handpicked, foot stomped, fermented to 13% alc, aged in neutral oak for 15 months. Unfined, unfiltered. 289 bottles produced. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Sept 2021 RRP $35
