Swift Gamay Noir 2021, Hawke’s Bay

Gamay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 15-Sep-2021
Light ruby-red, lighter on edge with a purple hue. The nose is forward and bright, youthful aromas maraschino cherries, ripe strawberries interweave cinnamon and cocoa dusting. Medium-light bodied, broody aromas of maraschino cherries, strawberries are succulent, unfolding cinnamon, cocoa and black pepper. The mouthfeel is smooth with a touch of powdery texture support by lively acidity. This is an appealing, straightforward Gamay with succulent fruit and subtle spice complexity. Match with venison salami and Ahi tuna over the next 3 years. Fruit from Maraekakaho, handpicked, carbonic maceration for 7 days, pressed off juice, full solids fermented to 13% alc, spent 4 months on full lees, no MLF. Unfined, unfiltered. 385 bottles produced. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Sept 2021 RRP $35
