Swift Chardonnay 2020, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 15-Sep-2021
Bright, pale yellow with depth, even colour throughout. The nose is gently full, filled with white floral fragrances, hay melded with subtle spice, peach and quince underlay. Medium-bodied, aromas of peach, apricot intermix quince and suggestion of red fruit, unveiling a hint of spice and floral, followed by nutty element. The brilliant acidity is the main feature of the wine; fruity and lively, provides a vibrant drive that carries spice throughout the palate. The fine-textured palate possesses subtle minerals and a lightly creamy mouthfeel. This is a youthful Chardonnay with bright fruit, floral details and an attractive acid line. Match with cured salmon and marinated octopus salad over the next 3 years. Clone 15 fruit from Bridge Pa Triangle handpicked, fermented in 3 batches in French oak barrels, one new, one older and one with full solids. Wild fermented to 13% alc, daily lees stirred for 6 weeks, left on full lees for 9 months, no MLF. Unfined, unfiltered. 567 bottles produced. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Sept 2021 RRP $35
