Supper Club Marlborough Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Jun-2015
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. This has a fresh and bright nose of white stonefruits along with steely mineral notes, the aromatics forming a tight, fruit-focussed core, revealing a subtle layering of lemon-curd MLF. Medium-bodied, the palate features a softly-packed heart of white stonefruits entwined with restrained butterscotch and lemon-curd MLF notes. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with youthful primary peach and citrus flavours and moderately crisp, bright acidity. The wine grows in depth and richness with the MLF adding to the depth. The wine carries to a light, dry, moderately sustained finish. This is a soft, fresh, white stonefruited Chardonnay with some richness and creamy MLF flavour. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from 80% Awatere Valley and 20% Lower Wairau, 30% barrel-fermented and aged 7 months in oak with batonnage, 70% stainless-steel fermented to 13.5% alc., with 85% undergoing MLF. Winemaker: David Foes. 16.5+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $16.99
