Summerhouse ‘Monarch’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Jan-2014
Full straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is full, powerful and deeply packed with aromas of savoury and spicy green stonefruits and complex nutty and smoky barrel-ferment layers, revealing the beginnings of secondary pea and bean nuances. Dry to taste and full bodied, bold and robust flavours of green stonefruits, nuts and spicy oak form a weighty, mouthfilling palate. The mouthfeel is smooth-flowing and soft-textured, enhancing the fruit and oak richness, with good acidity in support providing plenty of drive. Complex secondary elements unfold and add layers of flavour. The flavours lead to a fulsome, long finish of stonefruits and oak. This is a full and robust Sauvignon Blanc with layers of oak and the beginnings of development complexities. Serve with herb-marinated, roasted and barbecued white meat dishes over the next 2-3 years. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc fermented to 13.5% alc. and aged 18 months in seasoned French oak barrels on lees. 18.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $35.00
