Summerhouse Marlborough Verdelho 2013

Verdelho from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Jul-2014
Marlborough fruit hand-picked, WBP, and fermented in seasoned French oak barriques, partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc. and 4.2 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. Brillant pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is fresh, tightly held and piercing with steely aromas of tropical fruits and exotic herbs, revealing subtle nutty elements in the glass. This is refreshing and mouthwatering. Dry to taste and elegantly proportioned, sleek and penetrating flavours of exotic and herb nuanced tropical fruits follow a very fine-textured line on palate. Some barrel ferment richness underlies the linearity, and steely, lacy acidity lends vitality and enegy to the mouthfeel. The wine carries to a light, dry finish. This is a tight and linear Verdelho with steely and sleek tropical fruit flavours. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare, and seafood and poultry dishes over the next 3+ years. 130 dozen made. 17.5/20 Jul 2014 RRP $32.99
