Sugar Loaf Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Jun-2014
Even garnet-red colour with some depth, pale on rim. This has a full, voluminous nose with a deep aromatic amalgam of strawberry fruit infused with herbs, complexed by savoury whole bunch stalky elements, peppery and mineral, smoky reduction. Medium-bodied, light, gently filling and subtly sweet flavours of strawberries intermingle with herbal and stalky notes, along with minerally, charry reductive characters. The mouthfeel is soft with mellow, fine-grained tannins and discreet acidity, and the palate follows a restrained line leading to a dry finish with spicy, charry red fruit nuances. This is a soft, gently sweet Pinot Noir with strawberry, stalky and charry flavours. Match with charcuterie, antipasto and tapas over the next 3 years. Fruit from Brookby Road, Southern Valleys, fermented with 15% whole clusters to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in French oak. 16.5-/20 Jun 2014 RRP $25.00
