Sugar Loaf Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-May-2015
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with a slight pink blush, lighter on edge. The nose is light, fresh and clean with straightforward white and yellow floral notes along with a suggestion of exotic tropical fruit, honeysuckle, and lifted esters elements. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate is slender in presentation with light flavours of white stonefruits and florals. Esters and honeysuckle lift the fruitiness. The palate has a softly concentrated core and line with very fine textures and brisk, lively acidity that carries the wine to a nutty and floral nuanced, lingering finish. This is an elegant and slender dry Pinot Gris with lifted, aromatic fruit and a fresh mouthfeel. Serve with Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from a single vineyard in the lower Wairau Valley cool-fermented with a small portion in barrel to 12.5% alc. and 4 g/L RS, the wine aged 3 months on light lees. 16.0+/20 May 2015 RRP $17.50
