Sugar Loaf Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Jun-2014
Fruit from the Lower Wairau, fermented in tank with approx. 5% in oak to 13.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS. Bright, even, light straw-yellow colour, light on edge. This has a softly full bouquet with aromas of exotic florals interwoven with subtle apricot and stonefruit notes, and honeysuckle and herb nuances, the nose building in depth in the glass. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of yellow florals, stonefruits and honey are light, fresh, straightforward and subtly sweet with moderate richness. The wine follows a softly textured line with discreet acidity providing a mellow mouthfeel, leading to a light-fruited, gently receding finish. This is a light, up-front and accessible, dryish Pinot Gris with stonefruit and floral flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2-3 years. 16.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $17.00
