Sugar Loaf Marlborough Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-May-2015
Bright, even, light straw-yellow colour with some green-gold hues, paler on edge. The nose is full and voluminous with aromas of ripe citrus fruit and yellow florals along with a concentrated core of creamy barrel-ferment notes interwoven with lemon curd and butterscotch MLF. The nose has a distinctive lifted element. Medium-full bodied and elegantly proportioned, the palate features a fine and concentrated core of citrus fruits and florals. The fruit is harmoniously melded with nutty, creamy oak and butterscotch flavours, and the wine flows smoothly, following a very fine-textured wine. Slippery acidity adds to the freshness and liveliness, and leads the wine to a long, lingering finish with butterscotch nuances. This is an elegantly proportioned, smooth-flowing, lifted Chardonnay with citrus, cream and butterscotch flavours. Serve with creamy-sauced white meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. Wairau Valley fruit from a single vineyard, fully barrel-fermented, partially by indigenous yeasts, WBP, the wine aged 10 months in seasoned puncheons undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. 17.5/20 May 2015 RRP $24.00
