Stony Bank Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Nov-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, pale on the rim. The nose is firmly-packed but rounded with aromas of pungent passionfruit interwoven with dark herb and complex sulphide and mineral notes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of pungent passionfruit are soft and restrained in expression, but show an underlying richness. Sweet dark herbs and earthy, mineral and sulphide nuances add layers to the fruit. The mouthfeel is soft-textured with balanced acidity lending a mellow flow, leading to a light, gently thirst-quenching, dry finish of passionfruit and minerals. This is a rounded, but well-packed Sauvignon Blanc with restrained passionfruit flavours laced with dark herbs and a mineral and sulphide amalgam on a gently mouthwatering palate. Match with Mediterranean salads and vegetable dishes over the next 2 years. Wairau Valley fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 2.9 g/L RS. 16.5+/20 Nov 2016 RRP $17.00
