Stoneleigh ‘Wild Valley’ ‘Wild Fermented’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2018

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Sep-2018
Bright yellow colour with pale golden hues at the heart, lighter on the edge. The nose is firm with a concentrated but rounded core of savoury yellow stonefruits along with fresh yellow florals, and subtle notes of pears and honeysuckle.. A little complexity of nutty oak and mineral elements add interest. Off-dry to taste and medium bodied, the palate has a gently rich and concentrated, rounded core of ripe yellow sonefruits along with notes of pears and florals, with some savoury honeysuckle. The fruit is up-front and provides plenty of presence on the palate. The flavours carry with plenty of body and underlying power, leading to a rounded, full finish of honey and stonefruit. This is a rich, up-front, dryish Pinot Gris with plenty of fruit depth showing stonefruits, pears and honeysuckle with some savoury detail. Match with Asian and Middlle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. Mass Selected fruit from the ‘Stoneleigh’ vineyards, vines 14-21 y.o., fermented in stainless-steel with a portion in large seasoned oak cuves by indigenous yeasts to 13.25% alc. and 5.8 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Sep 2018 RRP $17.99
