Stoneleigh ‘Lighter’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Jul-2016
Bright, even, very pale straw-yellow colour. This has a fresh, tight and taut nose with lifted notes of pears, white stonefruits, florals and honeysuckle, along with youthful fermentation esters. Some subtle notes of fresh herbs unfold from the core. Medium-dry to taste and light bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion with light and harmoniously interwoven flavours of pears and pear-drops, stonefruits, florals, honeysuckle and lifted fermentation esters. The mouthfeel is bright and lively with oft acid freshness, and the wine flows along a fine threaded phenolic line, leading to a clean, dry aromatic finish. This is an elegant and harmonious, light-bodied, medium-dry Pinot Gris with lifted aromatic characters. Serve with fragrant Thai and Vietnamese fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. MS clone fruit from vines in Rapaura soils, 6-10 y.o., a portion of the pressed wine given oxygenation, the wine cool-fermented to 9.8% alc. and 7.6 g/L RS. 16.0/20 Jul 2016 RRP $17.29
