Stoneleigh ‘Latitude’ Marlborough Merlot 2014

Merlot from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-May-2015
Full, dark, deep purple-hued ruby-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is full with aromas of rich, dark plums harmoniously layered with coffee and mocha oak, revealing subtle herb and curranty elements. The aromatics grow in depth and density with aeration. Medium-full bodied, soft, smooth and rich fruit flavours of dark red plums fill the mouth. Waves of currants and herbs are melded with toasty, mocha oak and flow seamlessly. This has a rounded, weighty and dense core and mellow line. The fruit is supported by supple, integrated tannins which carry the wine effortlessly to a fulsome, rounded finish with notes of plums, liquorice, chocolate and coffee. This is a soft-textured smooth and rich Merlot with plum’ herb and mocha oak flavours. Serve with barbecued and grilled red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Conders Forest’ vineyard from 13 y.o. vines, fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine on skins for 20 days and aged 9 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels. 17.5-/20 May 2015 RRP $22.59
