Stonecrop Martinborough Pinot Noir 2008

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 25-Mar-2011
Deepish ruby-red colour with some purple hues, this has a soft, warm red-berry fruited nose with some savoury dried herb and game complexities beginning to appear. Medium weighted at 13.5% alc., the palate displays good depth of soft red-berry fruit flavours along with dried herb and roasted meat notes. The tannin extraction is moderate, but offers a good structure, and the acidity results in focus and tension through the palate. Enjoyable now, the wine will develop more mushroom and forest-floor complexities over the next 3-5+ years. Serve with duck, pork and mild game dishes. A single vineyard wine from an exceptional growing season, the wine was matured 8 months in French oak barrels. 16.5+/20 Mar 2011 RRP $31.95
