Stonecroft Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Nov-2013
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with hints of light gold, pale on rim. The bouquet is refined with growing intensity and volume of exotic florals and perfumes, Turkish Delight, talc and musk, all interwoven softly and with harmony. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features softly luscious, open and up-front flavours of exotic florals, Turkish Delight, honey and musk that fill the mouth, forming a rounded core. There is a good balance between the oily textures and fresh, bright acidity, lending a liveliness to the mouthfeel, and the flavours are carried to a lush, concentrated finish with floral, honey and spice nuances. This is an open and luscious, gently exotic Gewurztraminer with poise between oiliness and freshness. Match with Asian fare and semi-hard cheeses over the next 3-4+ years. Estate fruit and from a neighbouring vineyard, given a short period of skin contact, fermented with 10% in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc. and 7 g/L RS. 18.0/20 Nov 2013 RRP $30.00
