Stoneburn Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Sep-2018
Light, garnet-hued red colour with some depth, paler edged. The nose is elegantly concentrated with moderately deep aromas of strawberry and cherry fruit along with spicy, nutty oak, and a fine line of fresh and dark herbs at the core. The fruit is dominated by the oak. Medium-bodied, the palate has a deep, ethereal core of red cherry and berry fruit, along with an overlay of spicy oak. The mouthfeel has some vigour and the wine carries along a light-textured line with integrated acidity, leading to a slender, spicy, oaky finish. This is a light-fruited Pinot Noir with dominating oak flavours on a light-textured palate. Serve with antipasto and tapas over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the Wairau Valley fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned French oak barriques. 15.5/20 Sep 2018 RRP $16.99
