Stone Bridge Gisborne Viognier 2013

Viognier from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 28-Apr-2014
Full light golden-hued straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. This has a full and gently voluminous nose of ripe oranges and apricots along with exotic tropical fruits and savoury stonefruit kernels, the aromatic growing in density in the glass. Dry to taste and full-bodied, up-front flavours of ripe tropical fruits, oranges and musk fill the palate forming a smooth-flowing, near unctuous mouthfeel. The fruit richness is balance by very fine, drying phenolic textures and lacy acid tension. Some alcoholic warmth and drive emerges and carries the palate to a lighter, soft, savoury fruited finish. This is a full-bodied, upfront, unctuous Viognier with ripe savoury, musky fruit. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Clone UCD1 fully barrel-fermented to 14.2% alc., the wine aged in seasoned French oak barrels. 17.5+/20 Apr 2014 RRP $25.00
