Stone Bridge Gisborne Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 28-Apr-2014
Clone 548 fruit, full barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in oak, 75% French and 25% American, with 30% new oak being French. The wine had lees contact and 30% MLF. Bright straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, lighter on edge. The nose is full and broad with rich and ripe tropical fruit aromas integrated with creamy, nutty barrel-ferment notes freshened by steely, flinty elements. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits show a stylish restraint and degree of elegance. The fruit is underlined by a soft textured palate line and discreet acidity providing good balance. There is a subtle creaminess to the mouthfeel and the flavours of ripe citrus fruits and nuts are carried to a fine, fresh finish with hints of flint. This is a gently ripe and creamy Chardonnay with citrus and nutty flavours. Serve with roasted pork over the next 4-5 years. 17.5/20 Apr 2014 RRP $25.00
