Stewart Town ‘The Bounder’ Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 16-Oct-2017
Dark ruby-red colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full and voluminous with aromas of dark-red cherry and berry fruit harmoniously melded with dark herbs and subtle savoury whole bunch stalk perfumes. The oaking is subtle and balanced and the aromatics show good depth and concentration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has fulsome, but stylish flavours of dark-red cherry and berry fruit with thyme herb notes in an amalgam with nutty oak. The fruit has brightness and richness with fine tannin extraction and structure, and balanced acidity in support. As the wine flows, some savoury herb and stalk complexities emerge and carry to a sustained finish of dark cherries and berries. This is a flavoursome dark cherry and berry fruited Pinot Noir with complexing herb and stalk perfumes on a fine-structured palate. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 6+ years. Fruit from the ‘Stewart Town’ vineyard fermented to 14% alc. with 33% whole bunches, the wine spending 30 days on skins and aged 11 ½ months in 28% new oak. 18.5/20 Oct 2017 RRP $55.00
