100% Merlot from the ‘William Murdoch' vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels, undergoing saignee with 24 hours on skins, indigenous yeast fermented to 11.5% alc. and 3 g/L rs. Certified BioGro organic. Bright, light pink-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is softly packed with light aromas of red berry fruits, red florals, entwined with subtle watermelon and bon-bon elements. Dry to taste, moderately juicy, savoury strawberry and plum flavours form a rounded and weighty palate with smooth textures and mouthfeel. Some slipperiness from the acidity provides sufficient tension and liveliness and a little underlying textural graininess contributes to the palate line which leads to a dry, but blossoming finish with fruit, herb and earth nuances. This is a soft and full rosé with savoury red fruit flavours that bloom. Match with antipasto and first courses over the next 2 years. 16.5/20 Dec 2012 RRP $19.95
