Starborough ‘Single Vineyard’ Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Jun-2014
Fruit from the ‘Long Lane' vineyard in the Dashwood sub-region of the Awatere Valley, with 5% ‘Starborough Terrace' Awatere fruit, fermented to 13.2% alc. and 4 g/L rs. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is full and densely concentrated with aromas of pungent passionfruit, enhanced by a gooseberryish, mineral and flinty cut. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, bright and mouthfilling flavours of passionfruit and tropical fruits form a packed core. Some alcohol drive and generosity is noticeable, adding roundness to the presence and weight. The flavours flow smoothly with lacy acidity providing a slippery, soft mouthfeel, leading to a dry finish. This is a fulsome, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with a smooth flowing, rounded mouthfeel. Match with poultry and Mediterranean salads and vegetables over the next 2+ years. 18.0/20 Dec 2012 RRP $23.95
