Starborough Marlborough Pinot Noir 2008

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Jun-2014
This is purchased wine labelled under the Starborough label. From 2011, the Starborough Pinot Noir will be from estate grown fruit. The 2008 is made from mainly 667 and 777 clone from the Brancott Valley, hand harvested and fiven a cold soak before native yeast fermentation to 13.5% alc. It was matured 11 months in new and seasoned French oak. Deep ruby red with garnet hues on edge, this has a full, soft and gentle bouquet of strawberries, florals and soft red fruits, just starting to develop secondary mushroomy, savoury notes. The aromatics are attractive and harmonious. On palate, this is medium-full bodied, the fruit now settled, showing savoury game nuances as well as liquorice notes, and moderate tannic structure. The acidity provides good freshness and a tension to the mouthfeel. Drink over the next 2-4 years. 16.5+/20 Dec 2010 RRP $23.95
